History Hit is the UK’s biggest digital history brand across podcasts, Video on Demand, social media and the web, with more than 100,000 subscribers to its TV and audio networks. Its podcast network, including Dan Snow’s History Hit, has millions of listens each month.

SVOD Editors work primarily on long-form content, emphasising in-depth storytelling, with careful structuring.

HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME 

• Editing long-form videos, including grading and dubbing, for our SVOD channel, along with trailers and any promotional materials to the highest standard through captivating storytelling techniques, pacing, and visual styles

• Working with Producers and being receptive to feedback. Provide support to Junior Editors with any video creative developments

• Liaise with producers to successfully deliver videos on time. Build strong collaborative relationships with the wider team to support shoot-to-post process and strategy

• Detailed work with Adobe Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop) and emerging AI image generators e.g. Midjourney bringing historical events and characters to life (with accuracy). Also creating a variety of graphics including, date timelines, location maps, and text motion graphics

• Collaborations with the Platforms team to help maximise opportunities, sharing of resources and material

• Support the wider team with technical difficulties covering editing, file management, colour grading, motion graphics, exporting, and final quality control

• Constantly strive to develop and innovate all areas of video with the team from quality through to efficiency.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED 

Skills matter, experience is useful, attitude is everything. 

• Previous experience of working in video production

• Experienced as an Editor, working on broadcast level productions

• Comfortable working independently without guidance

• Experience working in factual and long form

• Ability to deliver a project from receiving and organising rushes including syncing through to grading and final delivery

• Confident animator with experience using both Photoshop and After Effects and knowledge of software including mid journey, elevenlabs and unreal engine

• Comfortable working on different stages of multiple projects at one time

• Knowledge of music, SFX, animation & archive libraries, along with asset management

• Understanding of Adobe packages and grading software like Resolve

• Desire to learn and take on feedback

• Excellent time keeping and ability to stick to deadlines

• Good people skills

• A passion for history.
