Role purpose and overview

You will be part of a growing team at the heart of the Telegraph’s newsroom, joining the producers behind our award-winning narrative storytelling projects such as Bed of Lies, and our ambitious daily Ukraine podcast, Ukraine: the latest. You will work in collaboration with dozens of the UK’s best reporters, correspondents and writers. 

The role will include video editing of this new daily show. The ideal candidate will have a background in broadcast news, documentaries, social media or visualised podcasts. They will be able to demonstrate experience of working accurately and to tight deadlines and the technical and creative skills to make our podcast shine.

A love of news and a knowledge of the wider news podcast landscape are also essential, especially the role video has to play.

Key responsibilities:

• To act as Video Editor of The Telegraph’s new daily news podcast, working alongside our Studio Operator, Head of Podcasts and producers, to deliver the show
• This will include assisting with filming, editing and publishing both the full show in video form and relevant social media material
• Liaising with our Head of Video and Head of Social to make the most of our publishing plans
• To help make the new flagship podcast at Telegraph one of the most popular news products in the country within 12 months of its launch 
• To go viral across social media with key clips expounding the best of our new daily podcast.

Key skills:

• A good foundation of experience working in news video, be that for broadcast, newspapers or other digital news platforms
• Video editing skills for digital output (Adobe Premiere and After Effects preferred) 
• Experience creating daily content, demonstrating a skill in working to tight deadlines
• Understanding of The Telegraph voice and what would make a good running order for a Telegraph daily news show
• A strong sense of editorial judgement and full knowledge of media law
• Passion for podcasting as a medium 
• A keen interest in politics and current affairs
• Experience working with a wider newsroom and high profile journalists and presenters
• Experience in social media publishing is also desirable. 

Desirable skills useful for the role:

• Experience working in video for podcasts.
