Rama | Sci-Fi Feature Film | Winnipeg, MB

Rama is a science fiction feature film about a girl named Lex who is infected with a deadly virus and must assemble a ragtag group of strangers to help her cross a post-apocalyptic landscape in order to find the cure. This is a sci-fi movie in the vein of Firefly, Mad Max and Blade Runner.

It’s a story about a group of strangers who stumble into this perilous situation, and they’ve got to get along with each other if they’re going to survive. Throughout the course of their journey, all kinds of issues come bubbling to the surface – prejudice, fear, hatred, trust – and at the centre of it all is Lex, this young girl who is changing and mutating as the virus takes over her body.

This is definitely a passion project for the entire cast and crew. We’re a small production company from Winnipeg, Manitoba and we’re trying to make a big movie. We’ve already made two short films that take place in the same universe as Rama. The first short, Scab, tells the story of how Lex met one of her companions, a scrappy loner named Cal who takes care of Lex at the start of Rama. The next short is called Pisces and it introduces another character named Reese, who is a mechanic on a rickety spaceship that plays a big role in Rama. Scab is a sweeping journey of survival across a valley where danger lurks around every corner. Pisces takes place entirely within the claustrophobic walls of a crippled spaceship as a small crew band together to stave off death.

We’ve tested our meddle completing Scab and Pisces, and now we’re ready to take on something a little bigger. And that’s where we’re going to need some help. In order to make a film like Rama, we need real, tangible sets and authentic costumes and props. We want to film as much of the movie as we can “in camera” so that it takes on the appearance of a real, lived-in world. We’ll be building most of the sets, costumes and props ourselves, and for that, we’ll need some support.

So we’re trying to raise money to get this project off the ground and every little bit helps. We’ve just launched a Kickstarter campaign to get Rama into production and if you’d like to check it out, visit If you don’t have any money, no worries. Feel free to spread the word and help us get this movie made!
