When fear and darkness surrounds the world, man needs to trust and act. Krisis is born in response to the present period, situating itself in the very near future. This short film questions the reason behind violence and hope, in short, the struggle between good and evil.
When even superheroes lose their powers, only man can be reborn and change the world with his actions.
In Krisis, The Galactic Drifter (Octavi Pujades), a superhero who has advised humanity for centuries, goes to Professor Kleinman (Joaquin Daniel) to undergo therapy. He has lost his powers and he has to decide whether to leave the planet or continue protecting humanity from its self-destruction. Even though he has asked spiritual council to leaders like the Pope (Eric L. Goode), Professor Kleinman seems to be the last chance.
Daniel F. Amselem had the perfect ally for this adventure with LUXOR CINEMA. A production company that gives the necessary means to make the perfect work, plenty of equipment, intellectual depth and good atmosphere. KRISIS, a super-heroic therapy, had a LUXOR as a producer but also as inspiration. Always with the highest quality and excellence in mind. After this alliance between director and company, began the fascinating task of finding actors for this challenge. Octavi Pujades ended up representing the Galactic Drifter, the superhero in crisis. A character that carries the logo of LUXOR CINEMA integrated into his suit.
Logo that has a very important meaning for the Drifter: three hexagons that represent the three gods of the superhero, home of all, and the three responsible deities for sending him to save the planets from their self-destruction. This is represented in the short film at the beginning; with a comic header that explains the journey of the Drifter from his arrival to Earth until our days. Three shapes that means, at the same time, the reflection of the lights of a video projector and the representation of the branding of the company. Pure cinema.
The independent film agency FREAK will be the responsible for the distribution of the short film in the Spanish and International Film Festivals. Born in the year 2000, this Company has the principal objective to support and make their shorts strength in the independent and current film industry. Based in Cáceres, Spain, Freak Agency is one of the most prestigious agencies in the short film market.
For KRISIS, FREAK has designed a personal strategy which we will hope soon celebrate with our premieres. First, we will get position in festivals, mainly in the USA, and later screen the film in Spain and in the rest of countries. That was one of our original ideas while we were producing the movie. Find, first, in the USA its natural place (because the theme and the esthetic of the story) and then visit the rest of the world.
Designing a hybrid between a superhero film adventures with a Woody Allen depth psychological comedy was a really difficult task. For us, was a surprise when we check that our ‘artistic challenge’ was understood and confirmed by Freak. They thought, also, that the USA was the perfect place where to start our journey. The fate of having been able to surround with great people during the filming and the opportunity of been a part of a great Distribution Short Film Company makes our project a wonderful experience. We hope to celebrate with you soon our adventure with a super-heroic therapy.
