My partners and I have secured a deal memo and contract with Rich Engler, a legendary concert promoter from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mr. Engler wrote a book a few years back covering his illustrious professional career and we thought it would make for an incredible documentary.
We started production last May and have procured interviews on Mr. Engler’s behalf from some of the biggest names in the industry. Namely, Peter Asher (promoter and manager for Neil Diamond, James Taylor, Diana Ross, Linda Ronstadt & Bad Finger); Doc McGhee (Manager for Kiss, Bon Jovi, Scorpions, Motley Crue and Hootie and the Blowfish); James Young (Founding Member and Guitarist for Styx), Phil Earhart (Drummer and Manager for Kansas); Pete Hewlett (Singer for Billy Joel, Elton John); Joe Grushecky (Founder of the Iron City House Rockers and collaborator with Bruce Springsteen); Benny Faiella & Herman Granati (Granati Brothers and The Jaggerz); Norman Nardini and Frank Czuri (Diamond Reo); Jack “Johnny Angel” Hunt (Cordells and Johnny Angel & The Halos); Michael Glabicki (Rusted Root) and Donnie Iris (The Jaggerz and Solo Artist) and more.
Our ultimate goal is to create a series that encompasses all of the facets behind the scenes of the music industry from the managers, producers and promoters’ viewpoints of the most renowned acts in history. With Mr. Engler’s unique contacts in the industry, we are able to give the viewer a rare glimpse into a nostalgic piece of this global cultural phenomenon called Rock N’ Roll.
Production on the pilot episode featuring Rich Engler has been completed and we are now looking for distribution and partnership to head into post-production on the pilot as well as start production on the following episodes. Thank you very much for your consideration!
