The Wardrobe Stylist is responsible for providing all wardrobe support to the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (“JLCO”) and other special events produced by Jazz at Lincoln Center (“JALC”) as assigned. Wardrobe Stylist shall also provide associated administrative support to the Production Department as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Pressing, steaming, fixing, repairing, mending, in house laundering, spot cleaning, shoe polishing, and routine maintenance of the JLCO wardrobe (defined as clothing and accessories provided or requested by JALC or its wardrobe sponsor) (hereinafter, the “JLCO Wardrobe”).
  • Dressing or assisting in dressing of JLCO members and dressing or assisting in dressing guest artists, but only if specifically requested by the guest artist to do so.
  • Pulling, pre-setting, preparing, hanging, and rehanging the JICO Wardrobe.
  • Sorting and laying out the JLCO Wardrobe for JLCO members.
  • Sending the JLCO Wardrobe to the dry cleaner, tailor, shoemaker, industrial laundry or wardrobe sponsor for maintenance or repair and receiving the JLCO Wardrobe from the dry cleaner, tailor, shoemaker, industrial laundry or wardrobe sponsor.
  • Labeling, organizing, and packing the JLCO Wardrobe prior to JLCO tour events and receiving, including making necessary notes in connection therewith, unpacking and restocking the JLCO Wardrobe after the conclusion of JLCO tour events.
  • Labeling, organizing, and taking inventory of the JLCO Wardrobe.
  • Making notes relating to the JLCO Wardrobe for recording continuity purposes.
  • Attending JLCO fittings at Rose Theater, the JALC Wardrobe sponsor’s location, or other assigned locations.
  • Shopping for wardrobe supplies not provided by the Employer.

Qualifications

  • Five years of combined experience as a Wardrobe Stylist, Assistant or Dresser in live theatre, concert production, photo shoots, movie production or television production.
  • Basic knowledge of costume maintenance, cleaning and care.
  • Outstanding sewing skills.
  • Computer skills: MAC or PC platform using, Microsoft Office.
  • Outstanding organizations skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task, and work graciously in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work with diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency and responsibility.
