AMONGST THE MURDER is an avant garde short following ‘Pigeon’, a timid and weak character navigating a world of birds, that neither care nor notice his existence. Pigeon attempts to get by a large crowd of crows, they push and shove him as they carry on in their uniform somnambulism. Pigeon finally pushes aside the uncaring crows, prompting them to unanimously turn their attention toward him. With their rapt regard, Pigeon performs a dance that both declares and expresses his unconventional presence; a tranquil and queer spirit. The crows gaze quietly, before parting a path for the Vulture, a towering red bird. With tall obelisk stature, the Vulture overpowers the other birds into intrinsic submission. Vulture reaches to Pigeon and crushes his beak. With this new disruption quashed as soon as it came, the crows return to their brutal order and move on without a second glance.

With it’s experimental nature and its characters expressing the theme and message through exaggerated movements, we’re mostly looking for actors who are more experienced in dancing, with some formal/informal training preferred. However, that is not required.
Also, both characters (Pigeon and Vulture) will be dressed in a bodysuit/morphsuit, as well as wearing a beak as their masks. If you are uncomfortable with that, please do not submit to our audition. Thank you.
