Description:

Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by creating compelling video content that brings the Norwich experience
to life. With a strong focus on athletics, social media, and quick-turn production, this position captures and edits high-impact footage
that showcases student life, milestone events, and the university’s distinctive culture. Working as part of the Marketing and Communications
Office, the Videographer produces dynamic content that supports enrollment, retention, alumni engagement, advancement, and overall brand
visibility. This is a highly creative, fast-paced role ideal for a visual storyteller who thrives in both behind-the-camera work and
post-production editing, with a passion for capturing the energy and character of Norwich.

This is a 40 hour per week and 52 weeks
per year 1.0 FTE position

Essential Functions

  1. Collaborates with the Senior Videographer to plan, shoot,
    and edit short- and long-form video content, with a particular focus on athletics, social media, and quick-turnaround
    projects.
  2. Works with the communications team to develop storyboards and scripts, and to create channel-specific versions of
    content.
  3. Partners with the Social Media Manager to publish and maintain video content and uses analytics to evaluate and improve
    performance.
  4. Collaborates with still photographers and other creative staff to support cohesive and engaging visual
    storytelling.
  5. Performs full-cycle video production?from pre-production planning to post-production editing?to highlight Norwich
    University’s mission, people, and programs.
  6. Captures b-roll footage and conducts interviews to support key marketing campaigns,
    storytelling efforts, and institutional initiatives.
  7. Coordinates distribution of finalized video content with assigned content
    managers and stakeholders for use across university platforms including web, email, and social media.
  8. Assists in maintaining an
    organized and searchable archive of video and multimedia assets in collaboration with the Senior Videographer.
  9. Transports, sets up,
    and operates professional video, lighting, and audio equipment.
  10. Manages staging, lighting, and sound needs during filming to ensure
    high-quality results.
  11. Calibrates and maintains video and audio equipment, troubleshooting technical issues and performing basic
    repairs when necessary.
  12. Applies industry best practices to all projects and offers creative guidance to ensure video content aligns
    with brand identity and strategic goals.
  13. Tags, organizes, and manages metadata for digital video assets and ensures proper usage and
    retrieval protocols are followed.
  14. Supports video needs for university-wide events and campaigns as assigned by Marketing and
    Communications leadership.
  15. Actively engages in continuous learning, applying principles of equity and inclusion while ensuring a
    positive experience for all internal and external audiences.

  3. Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups or other designated bodies as assigned.
  4. Achieves, maintains
    proficiency in and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software.
  5. Speaks,
    reads and writes in English.
  6. Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device.
  7. Performs other
    tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • College education preferred with Bachelor’s Degree
    with focus on Video Production, Photography, Communication or Journalism, or minimum two years in the field of video production may
    substitute for a degree.
  • 1 year of experience demonstrating creativity and attention to detail; ability to work under deadline
    pressure; organization to manage their time efficiently; ability to capture snippets of film and be able to edit it into a cohesive
    story.
  • Website, portfolio or social media page demonstrating video work.
  • Must be able to use a variety of software products,
    including Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Media Encoder, and After Effects, among others. Experience using Davinci not required but is a
    plus.
  • Videographers should also be able to troubleshoot problems/issues with the equipment, and/or repair the equipment they use if
    possible, to avoid downtime.
  • Proficiency using Sony cameras and lenses preferred.
  • Proficiency color grading LOG footage
    preferred.
  • Licensed drone pilot or experience flying drones a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint,
    Teams, and Outlook) Proficiency with DaVinci Resolve a plus.
  • Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related
    equipment; lift 35 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus
  • Able to work a number of evening, night or weekend hours
    to capture time sensitive events, particularly athletics and corps.
  • Travel as needed (public or private transportation)

Environmental Standards

  • Indoor work at a computer workstation and outdoor work in all weather
    conditions.
  • Low to medium level of exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes.
