Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Video Editor to join our creative team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate has a strong sense of storytelling and pacing, and is able to edit thoughtful, narrative-driven films that align with our brand’s vision and quality standards. This role primarily involves editing wedding films, with occasional promotional or social media projects. This position is well suited for an editor who values collaboration, consistency, and long-term working relationships. Responsibilities Edit raw footage into polished, story-driven films using DaVinci Resolve Craft engaging narratives through thoughtful pacing, music selection, and audio placement Perform basic to intermediate color correction and grading Integrate visual elements such as transitions and minimal graphics where appropriate Organize and maintain project files, footage, and assets efficiently Manage multiple projects while meeting agreed-upon deadlines Collaborate with us to understand feedback and refine edits Prepare final deliverables optimized for online viewing and archiving Requirements & Skills Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve is required Strong understanding of storytelling, pacing, and emotional flow Ability to work independently while remaining receptive to creative direction High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Experience editing wedding films or documentary-style content is an asset Audio mixing experience is a strong plus, though not required Familiarity with current video trends and best practices for digital delivery Compensation & Workload This is a contract-based, per-project role. Typical projects are 10 to 15-minute films, compensated between $500 and $1,000 per project, depending on experience, complexity, and ability to closely match our editing style. Music licensing is provided by us. Editors with audio mixing capabilities will be strongly considered. For the right candidate, there is potential for ongoing, consistent work, with a higher volume of projects available as trust and workflow are established. Location This position is remote. However, candidates based in Nova Scotia are preferred, as occasional in-person training and collaboration may be required.
