Compound Studio
Company Description
Compound Studio is a Toronto-based house of brands specializing in direct-to-consumer accessories, currently operating 2 brands: Vitaly and Clocks & Colours. With in-house design, creative and marketing teams — as well as our own fulfillment centers in North America and Europe — we take a fully integrated approach to production and sales.
From design and branding to manufacturing and operations, Compound is future-looking. Our products are experimental, challenging the standards of accessory design. Our brands do not follow traditional fashion seasons, instead releasing new styles weekly to digitally-native audiences directly through social media. Our brands are inclusive at their core, connecting with diverse communities and niche markets. We strive for environmental sustainability at every stage, using primarily recycled materials for production, delivered in 100% recycled packaging.
Job purpose
The Video Editor’s role is to transform raw video footage into high-quality finished assets that can be used across paid advertising and social media platforms. The Video Editor works directly with the Content Producer and brand-level Marketing Managers to align on necessary content that will be used in marketing campaigns to promote various brand initiatives. As a Video Editor, you should have expertise in video editing techniques and technologies, a deep understanding of videography principles, and experience with social media and performance marketing trends. You will work closely with our production team to deliver content that elevates our brands and drives increased engagement and performance across all channels.
Key Metrics: Number of new video content formats and iterations tested, video engagement across organic social channels, and paid media performance including CPA, ROAS and ad scalability.
Duties and Responsibilities
The role is responsible for the following:
- Edit video footage from in-house productions and external partners for paid and social channels, including but not limited to product flatlays, UGC, talking head, team lifestyle videos, retail highlights, photoshoot BTS and more.
- Occasionally film in-studio or on-set content, using provided company camera or smartphone.
- Work directly with the Content Producer to ensure all final video assets align with marketing objectives.
- Create multiple iterations of each final video asset in order to properly test and assess paid advertising performance.
- Collaborate with the creative team to ensure a cohesive visual style is used across all video content for each brand.
- Elevate our current video content strategy with higher quality edits and expert colour grading.
- Use new AI technologies such as voiceover and caption generators to enhance video hook rate and conversion performance.
- Incorporate music, graphics, transitions and visual effects with a focus on driving thumb-stop and engagement.
- Ensure all final videos are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
- Manage internal storage database and ensure proper management of both raw and final assets.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in video editing.
Qualifications

- Clear understanding of how to structure performance-driven ads, with impactful “hooks” that drive thumb-stop.
- Strong knowledge of Adobe Premiere and the ability to communicate editing notes/feedback clearly.
- Strong grasp of “trending” social media editing techniques, including a deep familiarity with CapCut.
- Strong sense of colour grading, using DaVinci Resolve or similar.
- Ability to create visual effects in Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D or Blender is a bonus.
