Casting Call for Non Union Indie short film project
Title: Ghosted
Synopsis: Emma is desperate to find love. The only problem is that she’s had one dating disaster after another and she’s ready to give up and just adopt ten cats and be done with it all. Her best friend, Josh wants to see her happy and tries, even dares her to keep trying. Emma reluctantly goes along despite her better judgement only to find out that sometimes relationships aren’t what they seem to be.
Shoot Dates: August 14-17, 2020 (actors who will be playing the roles of Emma and Josh MUST be available for all shoot days) for a full day of shooting.
This is an unpaid project, but all cast and crew will be receiving IMDB credit and footage from the final cut to use in your demo reel. We will also be submitting the final film to festivals.
Cast
Emma (35-45) has been back on the dating scene for almost four years and having no luck in finding so much as a date, never mind the love of her life and she’s starting to wonder if there’s something wrong with her. There’s not, the dating scene just sucks. She’s “casually pretty”, kind and has a heart of gold. If only a great guy would come along and recognize that.
Josh (38-45) is Emma’s best friend. In fact, they’ve been friends since they were kids. He’s cute in that geeky kind of way. All he wants is the best for Emma and is trying to encourage her to not give up on love.
Cal (40’s) is Emma’s gay neighbour and is fond of Emma, although Emma is completely clueless to the fact he’s gay. Cal is an upscale casual, trendy kind of guy, but not pretentious. He’s kind and has a good heart and thinks fondly of Emma. (actor must be comfortable with making out with another guy)
Evan mid-late 30’s, attractive, fit, – must be comfortable with “making out” with another guy
Mike mid 30’s, uncouth, crass, bad date, “looks like a Sex Pistols reject
Background Performers
BG for two scenes:
Passers-by at a park/beach – some casual attire, some in jogging / exercise attire – all ages, ethnicities, body types
Upscale party goers – upscale party attire, but not formal. Age range – 20 to 50
Silent on camera – Male, attractive, fit, mid-late 30’s – must be comfortable with “making out” with another guy

Those selected for auditions will be contacted by casting. You will receive sides and will be asked to submit an audition tape. We will ask that you film 2 contrasting performances of your scene. If necessary, we will hold in person call-back
