Synopsis:
“Amissio” illustrates the story of Ed, a young man who loses his mother and how horribly he deals with the repercussions of this loss; told with a non-linear structure and visual imagery inspired by Terrence Malick.

Character BIOS
[YOUNG ED] [GENDER: MALE] [ SHOULD LOOK AGE: 7-10 ] [ETHNICITY: CAUCASIAN]
The youngest version of Ed, is like another child at this age; he adores his mother and is either in a state of restless frenzy or curious quiet.

[TEENAGE ED] [GENDER: MALE] [ SHOULD LOOK AGE: 13-16 ] [ETHNICITY: CAUCASIAN]
At this point in his life Ed becomes more composed as his understanding of morality starts setting in. He also becomes more solemn and dependent on his mother at this age so a facially strong actor is required.

[MOTHER] [GENDER: FEMALE] [ AGE: 18-40 ] [ETHNICITY: CAUCASIAN/MIXED RACE]
A smart woman who cares deeply for her son, Mother is a rock for Ed as she raises him into a charming young boy but an emotionally unfit son. Acting here will be largely reliant on facial expressions so someone with an ability to emulate maturity but kindness is desired.

[SICK MOTHER] [GENDER: FEMALE] [ AGE: 18-40 ] [ETHNICITY: CAUCASIAN/MIXED RACE]
As an illness takes hold of mother and worsens, she becomes a completely different person physically — though still harbouring the kind eyes and strong smile — and with only a couple of shots in the film she forms the foundation of Ed’s spiral.

[KERSTIN] [GENDER: FEMALE] [ AGE: 18-40 ] [ETHNICITY: ANY]
Though her composure is confident and immovable like that of soldier, her actions are anything but in the service of others. Working in a well-established firm, Kerstin embodies the ruthless side of humanity in the facade of social dignity. She narrates a soliloquy which is to be filmed in one long take and so emotion memory is a key skill for any interested actors.
