Your Role
The Warner Bros. Television Group (WBTVG) oversees and grows the entire portfolio of Warner Bros Discovery television businesses, including worldwide production, traditional and digital distribution, and broadcasting.
WBTV Production and Animation divisions produce live-action dramas and comedies, animated series, and unscripted & alternative programming for traditional broadcast networks, cable channels and the first-run syndication marketplace, as well as for subscription/on-demand platforms and digital media outlets.
The Studio Controllership Group is Warner Bros Discovery’s global accounting team. The team serves to provide efficient and scalable global accounting services to the Warner Bros Discovery Group of Companies. We are looking for a Senior Accountant to support our TV Deal Processing team. The candidate must be proactive, able to critically think and work independently.
Duties include deal processing, revenue recognition, month end closing and reporting, by title reporting, SOX compliance and audit support.
Your Role Accountabilities
1. License agreement tracking (LFBS) – review TVP license agreements and prepare/update License Fee Billing Schedules based on these agreements, Cost Status reports and quarterly financial statements. Review Cost Status reports on a weekly basis to check for additional breakages and track down customer letters and/or email correspondence for back up to changes.
2. Revenue Recognition (Actuals) – Review Series revenue recognition in Cosmos deal vs. CNR Report and update as needed prior to month end close.
Analyze SAP IPMACT revenue report for accuracy, send for review and update and post in SAP once approved.
Analyze, update, send for review and submit revenue ultimates based on actual quarterly financials for TV Production.
Revenue Recognition (Accruals) – Analyze the need for additional revenue adjustments out of Cosmos due to changes in delivery schedules or late deal changes.Prepare adjustment journal entry as needed dependent on changes and submit once approved.
3. CNR Report – Update Completed Not Released (CNR) reports using forecast schedules from Scripted Post Production, Warner Horizon Alternative Post Production and Shed Post Production.
4. Provide SOX, PwC and participation auditors with support as requested.
5. Other special projects as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Work Experience
- 3+ years previous work experience in an accounting or finance field.
- Highly motivated, analytical, proactive, and self-sufficient
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with people on all levels, in person, via email or other digital format and on the telephone.
- Must have the ability to pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions.
- Must have the ability to organize and schedule work effectively.
- Must have the ability to multi-task projects simultaneously and be able to prioritize.
- Must be able to adapt in a changing environment and quickly learn new concepts, solve problems, and implement solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Excel.
- Must be able to work reasonable overtime, if necessary.
Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification
- BA/BS degree in Finance or Accounting required.
- CPA or MBA equivalent strongly preferred.
Knowledge/Skills
- Must be fluent or near fluent in English.
- Experience working with large amounts of data preferred.
- Experience with SAP is a plus.
- Working in shared service and/or outsourcing environment a plus.
- Previous “Big 4” accounting experience preferred.
