Your New Role…
The Social Media Producer will be an experienced journalist, enthusiastic digital storyteller and social news junkie. This person will manage and grow engagement across CNN en Español’s social platforms, delivering breaking news, high-impact campaigns, and innovative storytelling that resonate with diverse audiences.
The ideal candidate has a strong journalism and social publishing background, excellent Spanish writing skills, and the ability to spot and shape stories that spark conversation and connection across platforms.
Your Role Accountabilities…
- Publish and distribute content across global social accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, WhatsApp, TikTok, and emerging platforms) with a focus on breaking, international, and trending news.
- Approve social media copy with the rigor of an editor, ensuring every post meets our standards of accuracy, tone, and impact.
- Collaborate with editorial, digital, and design teams to plan and execute impactful social campaigns.
- Monitor breaking news and trending topics, flagging opportunities for newsroom coverage.
- Act as the voice and liaison with editorial desks to ensure social resonance.
- Stay current on platform updates, algorithms, and features, sharing insights with the team.
- Train colleagues on best practices and social-first storytelling.
- Analyze and report on performance metrics, using data to guide decisions and optimize content.
- Work with anchors and journalists to amplify their voices and reach wider audiences.
- Curate and repurpose the best content across platforms to maximize visibility and engagement.
Qualifications & Experience…
- 3–4+ years of journalism, social media production, experience at a reputable media organization.
- Fully bilingual (English/Spanish) with the ability to translate, edit, and write natively in Spanish.
- Exceptional ability to write sharp, engaging, and platform-optimized copy.
- Proven record of creating content (written, video, multimedia) that drives traffic and audience growth.
- Deep understanding of how digital audiences consume and interact with news on social platforms.
- Experience with social publishing and analytics tools (e.g., Chartbeat, Omniture, CrowdTangle, SocialFlow, Sprinklr).
- Ability to use analytics and insights to make data-informed decisions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Visual and creative storytelling skills, including video and photo production.
- Knowledge of digital media trends, emerging formats, and messaging platforms.
