SYNOPSIS
“JOYCE” is a hip-hop dramatic short about a young, shy, Filipino nanny who fantasizes about being a famous rapper. While adjusting to her new home, she is blindsided by the sudden news of her father suffering a heart attack in the Philippines. Feeling lost and helpless, she begins to question her decision to leave her country while trying to find her place in her current one. The only place she truly feels at home is in her music.
JOYCE, 20-25 (Female, Filipino)
Even though she is shy, introverted, and soft-spoken, her primary desire is to be able to control a crowd of thousands of fans. She is new to Canada, a frequent daydreamer, and a skilled rapper… when no one is looking.
*MUST BE COMFORTABLE RAPPING AND ABLE TO SPEAK TAGALOG.
CAROL, 30-35 (Female, Caucasian)
A recent divorcée and single mother, Carol is a career-driven woman new to the real estate game. Looking to move on from her past, she is determined to start a new fresh life for her and her infant daughter.
JASON, 18-22 (Male, Filipino)
Joyce’s younger brother, hardworking, responsible, and takes it upon himself to take his father’s place while he recovers from a heart attack.

JIMMY, 20-25 (Male, Open Ethnicity)
A passionate, charismatic and enthusiastic audio engineer. Runs Rabid Beats Productions alongside his partner SMITH.
