CASTING CALL! Short Film “Reverie”

Filming Dates: March 7/8

This is a passion project by a volunteer crew of recent film school graduates. These roles are unpaid, with food & transportation provided. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to build their portfolio in a welcoming, collaborative environment. All levels of experience are encouraged to apply!

SYNOPSIS:

The Girl gets an otherworldly sense that something has changed. A cosmic change that has rippled into her existence. She no longer knows her purpose. Her sense of being is lost. When her roommate leaves for holiday, she spends days and weeks in solitude in her apartment, at first inviting a lover over to see if she can feel anything. Realizing that has no meaning, she ignores phone calls and responsibilities, trying to uncover this mysterious new reality. All the while, she has gained an inexplicable insight into the people and the world around her. Eventually, while wandering through streets, she finds solace in an unlikely connection with a stranger, who is not too dissimilar to her.

ROLES:

The Girl (Female, 18-24 yrs)

She doesn’t know her place, but she is searching for it. She sees another world around her, and has strange insight into her surroundings. She’s unaffected and unassuming with the people in her life and the things that happen to her. She carries a melancholic and wistful aura. She’s innocent yet sophisticated at the same time. The world is enigmatic and magical to her.

Stranger (Male, 40+ yrs)

Kind, wise, and contemplative. Has a cultivated awareness and knowledge about the world. He appreciates and reflects the beauty around him, and how the world is filled with odd and beautiful coincidences.

Lover (Male, 18-24 yrs)

Honest, innocent, and naive. Familiar with the Girl, but not in a close capacity – haven’t seen each other in a while, though he still kept an interest in her. First crack at romance, frustrated at (apparently) not being taken seriously.
