Your New Role…

As a Senior Analyst, Commercial Strategy at Warner Bros. Discovery you will play a key part in supporting the wider Content Sales team using research and analytics to support strategy. The Content Sales team licenses new/library movies and television series to free TV broadcasters (e.g. ITV, Channel 4, TF1, RTL, Mediaset), pay TV broadcasters (e.g. Sky, Canal+, OSN, DSTV) and streaming companies (e.g. Netflix, Amazon, Disney+) outside of the USA and Canada.  It is also responsible for licensing content to services and networks owned by WBD (e.g. HBO Max, TVN, WB TV).  

The London-based Commercial Strategy team works closely with the Sales, Legal, Research and Marketing teams based in offices across the world to develop and implement the content sales strategy and support the broader objectives of the company.  It also leads multi-territory deal-making with the likes of Netflix, Amazon and Disney+.

Key movies include: Barbie; Superman; A Minecraft Movie, the Dune franchise, The Conjuring franchise; The Dark Knight franchise; the Harry Potter franchise; The Hangover franchise; the Lord of the Rings franchise; Happy Feet; Godzilla vs Kong; Wonka; the Mad Max franchise; Joker; Beetlejuice Beetlejuice; Sinners; and the Final Destination franchise.

Key series include: House of the Dragon; Rick and Morty; The White Lotus; Friends; Succession; The Flash; The Last of Us; The Pitt; 2 Broke Girls; The Mentalist; Sex and the City; Game of Thrones; The Big Bang Theory; The Wire; Vampire Diaries; Supernatural; Euphoria; Young Sheldon; The Penguin; Industry; Gossip Girl; The West Wing; The Sopranos; True Detective.

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Undertake a variety of analysis and research in support of the Commercial Strategy and Sales teams.

  • Undertake financial analysis of new and existing content licensing deals.

  • Work with Sales/Legal teams to create innovative templates and proposals.

  • Maintain deal pricing summaries to support benchmarking and content rights valuation.

  • Provide commercial support to Sales/Marketing teams throughout deal-making process.

  • Prepare regular reports/presentations showing viewing of content on global streamers.

  • Liaise with Research teams to gather/disseminate additional market intelligence.

  • Assist in preparation of other internal presentations/briefings as required.

Qualifications and Experience…

  • Related undergraduate (e.g. BA/BSc) degree.

  • Experience in media and enterainment industry, ideally in content licensing.

  • Experience in consulting and/or a US studio experience would be an advantage.

  • Structured thinker with ability to understand/analyse/solve complex problems.

  • Strong commercial acumen; highly numerate with strong Excel modelling skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.

Hybrid Working – This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
