Casting call

Hello!

We are making a short film as part of a charity anthology film with French VOD platform Outbuster, and we are looking for casts! Please see info below:

Note: As we are in the middle of a pandemic, the total number of crew and cast will be 6 people. Sanitary products such as hand sanitizers, rubbing alcohol will be provided on location, face masks will be available as well. All food and drinks will be pre-packaged: individual snack packets, water bottles, pre-packaged meals etc.
The nature of the shoot is very simple: 1 character, 1 controlled location, shot over 1 day.

Title: Hey You / 如魚得水

Synopsis: A man in his early 40s gets a call from his parents on their anniversary while struggling to make a “mandatory” anniversary card to surprise his boss in a zoom meeting for his job. While all of this is happening, he notices that his goldfish have mysteriously multiplied.

Compensation: $100/day

Tentative shoot date: 7/18 or 7/19

Location: Vancouver

Kent
Age: mid 30s to early 40s
Gender: Male
Description: A Chinese Canadian, must be able to speak some Mandarin. Kent is average in every way. He has no particular hobbies, no strong personality, somewhat likes the board game Go, but not good enough to go anywhere with it. Sort of enjoys movies and manga, but that’s about it. Gets stressed over parents expectations and mundane tasks.

Father
Age: Late 60s-early 70s
Gender: Male
Description: For ADR or video call only. Chinese, must be able to speak fluent Mandarin. Immigrated to Canada in his early 30s and married his wife. An adventurous dad, likes to try and learn new things. Has great admiration for Chinese culture and history. Loves cooking.

Mother
Age: Late 60s-early 70s
Gender: Female
Description: For ADR or video call only. Chinese, must be able to speak fluent/some Mandarin. Immigrated to Canada when she was young. Dislikes cooking, loves listening to orchestras and enjoys hiking. Values are more traditional than the father.
