About the Role

PracticeSCA is looking for reliable, engaging individuals to work as Simulated Patients for GP trainees preparing for clinical examinations and real-life consultations.

As a Simulated Patient, you will take part in online role-play consultations, acting out a predefined clinical scenario to help GP trainees develop their consultation, communication, and clinical reasoning skills in a safe and supportive environment.

This is a fully remote role with flexible, ad hoc shifts, ideal for those looking for occasional evening or weekend work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend scheduled online simulated consultation sessions via video call
  • Act out a specific patient scenario using a provided written brief
  • Deliver the same clinical scenario consistently across five separate consultations in a single shift (with five different GP trainees)
  • Engage realistically and professionally to support trainees’ learning
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Shift Pattern

  • Shifts are typically 1.5–2 hours long
  • Sessions are usually scheduled:

– Weekday evenings (after 7:00 pm)

– Weekends during daytime hours (often mid-afternoon)

  • You will be invited to sessions approximately one week in advance
  • Participation is optional — you choose whether to accept each invite

Training & Briefing

  • If you accept a session, you will receive a detailed patient brief in advance
  • The brief will include all relevant information needed to perform the role accurately and confidently
  • No clinical knowledge is required beyond what is provided in the brief

Essential Requirements

  • Excellent spoken English communication skills
  • Comfortable appearing on camera and speaking with confidence
  • Flexible availability for evenings and/or weekends
  • Access to:

– A reliable internet connection

– A working camera and microphone (laptop only)

  • Ability to follow a script/brief while remaining natural and consistent

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience as a Simulated Patient
  • Background in healthcare or medical settings
  • Acting experience or strong role-play ability
  • Confidence interacting with medical professionals
