POSITION OVERVIEW

The Production Accountant will support financial and accounting functions related to production inclusive of cost reporting, forecasting/cash flows, production accounts payable and payroll processing, and general accounting. The Accountant will work directly with the Company Executives, Producers, and Production Managers, as well as with vendors and clients. The Accountant must be able to manage and execute bookkeeping tasks, including reconciliations, invoicing, budgeting, creating job estimates, cost reports, and P&Ls. This is a part-time position with flexible hours and the option to work from home.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

Company Bookkeeping:
Preparing weekly Estimated Final Cost forecasting, cash flow forecasting, variance analysis, reporting, and miscellaneous journals, and account re-classes
Daily Bank Account Reconciliations
Weekly Cash Balance Reporting
Weekly Check Cutting
Bi-Weekly Company Payroll Reporting
Company Bill Payments
Filings (digital and hard copies) of company and project receipts and invoices
Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly Company P&L Reports
Generating Weekly Suspense Accounts
Organizing, Tagging and inputting Invoices received
Preparing Yearly 1099s, K-1s
Estimating Quarterly Tax Payments
Preparing audit backup to support all show expenditures as needed
Labor tracking
Tracking and paying all city business fees and licenses
Performing complex financial analysis on an as needed basis

Project Accounting Support
Project accounting for smaller budget projects or supervising production accountants for larger budget projects
Managing all financial aspects of production accounting: including budgeting, cash-flows, cost tracking, variance analysis, forecasting estimated final cost, profit analysis, production quota and productivity reporting, business licenses, etc.
Budgeting and cost tracking production (Development, Pre-Production, Production and Post Production phases)
Processing Development Term Deal and Pre-production payroll and accounts payable
Preparing reports for production
Cost Reporting and Reconciling with Project Producers
Reviewing weekly reports for accuracy and making reclassification as required
Analyzing cause of variances
Review, code and approval purchase orders, invoices, petty cash, procurement card expenses, travel authorizations, etc.
Auditing production time cards
Additional production related accounting functions as requested by Project Producers
Ability to manipulate large amounts of data into concise and informative reports for Producers
Generating and sending out client Invoices
Working with Project Producers on lower-budget projects to create project estimates

Feature Film & Distribution Support
Tracking down reports from Exhibitors
Collecting and organizing Exhibition reports
Generating, sending out and tracking Sales Invoices
Creating and sending out investor reports
Tracking and paying union residual payments
Tracking merchandise sales
Paying merchandise royalties

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS PREFERRED

Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance
Production accounting experience
Entertainment industry experience
Knowledge of Quickbooks (online and Desktop), Excel, and Google Sheets
Working knowledge of film production and film production accounting
Strong accounting / audit knowledge
Knowledge of Guild and Union Payroll SAG/AFTRA/DGA/WGA/IA
Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects
Experience working in an entertainment company or for entertainment clients
Strong follow-through on all projects; ability to bring projects to timely completion
Ability to perform tasks with reasonable independence
Ability to quickly grasp new concepts
Ability to problem-solve
Detail-oriented; strong organizational, analytical skills
Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

COMPENSATION

$50 per hour
