Position Summary & Context
WBD and EBU (European Broadcasting Union) have acquired from the IOC in a joint bid agreement the media rights of the Olympic Games from 2025 to 2032. As part of this partnership WBD has to deliver for the Olympic Winter Games Milan Cortina 2026 a rights activation service to all EBU members = 50 free-to-air broadcasters across Europe.
Activation of the rights of these 50 TV and radio members includes: exploitation of the “Olympic Brand Properties” (brands, logos and emblems), use of Olympic archives, production of Olympic programmes and sales of advertising and sponsorship. Such activations must follow strict and complex guidelines issued by the International Olympic Committee
WBD is responsible for the management, training and review process for all rights activations developed by EBU broadcasting members. WBD and its channels and platforms across Europe also has to follow the same IOC guidelines for its own Olympic rights activations.
WBD is looking for a Rights Activation Coordinator within the Rights Acquisitions, Sales and Clients Servicing Department to manage both WBD’s and EBU members’ rights activations.
Responsibilities
Before and during the Games, the candidate is responsible for:
– filtering all projects submitted by WBD group and by EBU members subject to IOC guidelines. This includes the appropriate use of Olympic brands for communications, marketing and promotional activations on all media and all platforms as well as the building of commercial offers.
– reviewing these projects with internal (WBD) and external (EBU members) clients to ensure a swift IOC approval
– processing final submission to the IOC and managing potential adjustments requested by the IOC with internal and external clients.
Requirements & Skills
Profile:
The candidate holds a master’s degree or equivalent and has a proven experience in clients servicing or rights activation. The candidate is bilingual English and French and has a good command of excel and powerpoint.
Excellent ability to process a lot of information/data, summarize and prioritize. Must demonstrate diplomatic skills and build relationships with internal and external clients. Attention to detail is a must to succeed in this position.
