Join our dynamic Creative Industries team at North Hertfordshire College and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of UK Film & TV growth by delivering on our exciting Level 3 TV, Film & VFX qualification.

This is your opportunity to nurture emerging talent in a rapidly evolving industry. You will deliver engaging, relevant, and industry-standard teaching in areas such as:

  • Film and television production
  • Scriptwriting and storyboarding
  • Cinematography and lighting techniques
  • Post-production editing and colour grading
  • Visual effects and motion graphics
  • Delivering using industry software including Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects), DaVinci Resolve, Blender, and more
  • We work closely with media professionals, independent production companies, and VFX studios to provide learners with incredible industry insights, real-world projects, and meaningful progression routes into higher education, apprenticeships, or employment in the creative screen sector.

    We want a dynamic and inspiring lecturer to build upon and lead our employer engagement ambitions at North Herts College. You will take lead by working closely with our stakeholders ensuring they continue to shape and enrich our curriculum, through ‘real world’ work experience opportunities, live briefs and driving our ‘masterclass’ program to provide our students with a ‘first-class’ educational experience.

    About the Organisation:

    The College operates across three main campuses in Stevenage and Hitchin, employing over 650 staff. With a turnover of £30m, the college provides learning opportunities to over 10,000 students each year from study programmes for 16-18 year olds and apprenticeships through to adult provision locally, regionally and nationally. We were judged Good by Ofsted at our last inspection in December 2023, with outstanding features.

    The Creative Industries department has a strong and rich reputation, nationally placed within the top 6% of FE centres to study Arts & Media. Currently we are in an exciting period of change through the development & launch of Purwell Studio and it’s subsequent growth. We are now expanding our outstanding team to position ourselves as national leaders within Creative Industry studies.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the promotion of courses and the recruitment and enrolment of students.
  • Ensure effective assessment of students to help to ensure that learning meets individual needs.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment by supporting students in understanding how to keep themselves, and others, safe and notifying management of any risks.
  • Promote the fundamental British values of democracy; the rule of law; individual liberty; the mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
  • Utilise a wide range of teaching and learning tools to create and plan interesting and engaging learning opportunities.
  • Deliver outstanding and inspiring learning, using creative learning strategies that will inspire and engage students to reach their full potential.
  • Provide students with academic and pastoral support to help them achieve their goals.
  • Mark and assess students’ work, providing feedback that supports students to improve.
  • Take responsibility for the progress and achievement of all students on your course.
  • Champion our Maths and English strategy and embed the development of these in your teaching.
  • Lead a programme or course, maintaining high standards of behaviour and performance, and providing high quality experiences to raise students’ aspirations.
  • Liaise with student support functions, external agencies and parents to help ensure that students make good or better progress.
  • Use and analyse programme data to support effective course management.
  • Deliver IAG to support students’ decision making and high rates of progression.
  • General duties

  • To contribute to the effective management and promotion of equality and diversity
  • To work in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act, ensuring the College is a safe environment for staff, students and visitors.
  • To promote with staff and students the importance of safeguarding the welfare of children and vulnerable adults they are responsible for and come into contact with.
  • To work at all times in accordance with North Hertfordshire College’s policies and procedures.
  • To carry out such duties as may be required from time to time by the college that are appropriate to the grade of the post
