Role Overview

We are seeking a talented and motivated Junior / Mid-Weight Video Editor to join our creative team. This role is perfect for someone passionate about visual storytelling, skilled in editing, and eager to grow their career in a dynamic and innovative environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating engaging video content that aligns with HostAfrica’s brand identity and supports our marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Video Editing :

Edit video content for various platforms, including social media, YouTube, websites, and email campaigns.

Ensure all video outputs are on-brand, high-quality, and optimized for the platform they’re intended for.

Creative Collaboration :

Work closely with the marketing and design teams to understand project objectives and deliver creative solutions.

Assist in brainstorming and conceptualizing video ideas that resonate with our target audience.

Post-Production :

Perform colour correction, audio balancing, and motion graphics to enhance the overall video quality.

Organize and maintain video assets, ensuring easy access and version control.

Content Creation :

Support in producing tutorials, promotional videos, testimonials, and brand stories. This includes infographics.

Adapt and repurpose existing content for different formats and audiences.

Quality Assurance :

Review and refine video drafts based on feedback, ensuring alignment with creative briefs and timelines.

Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in video editing and implement best practices.

Skills and Experience

1-3 years of experience in video editing (junior) or 3-5 years (mid-weight) in a professional or freelance capacity.

Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve).

Basic knowledge of motion graphics software (e.g., Adobe After Effects).

Experience with sound editing and colour grading tools.

Familiarity with optimizing video content for different platforms (e.g., social media, YouTube).

Personal Attributes

Strong storytelling and visual communication skills.

Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality work.

Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Creative, proactive, and eager to learn and grow within the team.

Bonus Points

Basic understanding of web hosting, cloud computing, or IT services.

Knowledge of SEO for video content.

Photography or videography skills.
