Job Description

You are a dynamic filmmaker with a proven track record with writing in directing to support our cohorts of emerging writers, directors, producers and crew to realize the development of a digital web project through the program. The Artist-in-Residence will have an opportunity to pitch their work as potential content for the youth to produce or work on a concept formulated by the participants. The writing workshops will be virtual until social distancing measures in place for COVID19 for the arts industry are suspended. The project will be produced in collaboration with Oya Media Group and will be distributed and showcased after completion.

Term:

  • 3 months starting between August 1st and November 31, 2020
  • 15-24 hours/week

Requirements:

  • 5 years experience in film/television/new media industries
  • 3 production credits as writer/director
  • 2 TV/broadcast/streaming platform credits
  • some experience facilitating writing workshops
  • experience working with young talent is an asset
  • experience with online group meetings

Additional Info:

This is part of a three-year, industry-led initiative supported by the Ontario Ministry of Children and Social Services and various industry partners including OYA Media Group. The program’s goal is to support Black youth in the digital media, film and television industry by providing mentoring and networking opportunities as well as on-site training with film department heads. Participants are between 18 to 26 years, living in the GTA and have graduated from a film, video or media arts program and demonstrate a serious interest in pursuing a career in the sector.
