About the Opportunity:

RDCM is looking for an experienced Editor & Camera Operator to join our Broadcast Team. 

As an experienced Editor & Camera Operator you will provide base edit support and perform camera duties for the Racing.com Broadcast department as part of the post-production team.

This position is 90% editing and 10% shooting.

Editing responsibilities include preparing race replays, creating race recap episodes and editing custom packages for programs.  Camera opportunities will primarily be on-location interview and overlay shoots.

The post-production team works on a 7-day roster.  Team members are rostered on rotating weekends, which works out to one weekend per month on average.  Due to the racing schedule, there are also seasonal rotating evening/night shifts.  Additionally, there is rotating coverage on public holidays that feature broadcast coverage of races.

Key Responsibilities:    

 

  • The position encompasses a range of editing projects for broadcast and digital platforms as outlined by project briefs.  Responsible for reviewing footage, making editorial decisions, audio mixing, colour correction, encoding deliverables to destination specs and adhering to hard deadlines.
  • Work closely with members of the Racing.com post and production teams, including the Post Production Supervisor and Head of Raceday.
  • Collaborate with the Producers, Directors, Shooters and Editors in ensuring the highest quality creative output.
  • Ensure all content meets relevant station guidelines and on-air codes of practice.
  • Operate cameras, sound, and lighting equipment to capture high-quality video footage that meets production standards.
  • Shoot primarily on location and be able to set-up all necessary equipment.
  • Shoot interviews and general b-roll.
  • Use LiveU and  Dejero Units for sending live-cross feeds to the control room.  Previous experience with this equipment is a plus, but no essential.

About You:

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role in a media-based environment.
  • Prior experience in successfully delivering content.
  • Proficiency in the following software; Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and Media Encoder.
  • You must have a thorough knowledge of post-production workflows including post audio recording, finishing and archiving.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills which facilitate effective interaction with a broad range of stakeholders, as well as work in cross-functional teams to deliver outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly assess options and identify and implement creative, innovative and flexible outcomes with complete attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Team focused with sound organisational skills and an ability to effectively manage multiple projects/issues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting workloads.
  • Knowledge of Thoroughbred Racing and its key stakeholders is an advantage.
  • Valid driver’s license is required in order to travel to shoot locations.
