Your New Role…

CNN seeks an enterprising and talented Video Producer to join the team of The Lead with Jake Tapper in Washington, DC!

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Identify, produce, and alert the day’s most newsworthy, definitive, exciting, and compelling video elements for each day’s live program.

  • Identify, produce, and alert the day’s most newsworthy, definitive, exciting, and compelling soundbites for each day’s live program.

  • Maintain precision communication with senior producers, package producers, and control room team daily to finalize videos, graphics, and packages for air.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in navigating and enhancing video elements for live and packaged scripts.

  • Assist in all visual aspects of newsgathering, packaging, and live production, including graphics, banners, and wall production.

  • Act as primary control room point of contact for senior producers, package producers, segments producers, associate producers, and operations as they gather, produce, and funnel material for air.

  • Identify, cut, and post show elements to multiple digital platforms daily.

  • Pitch, develop, produce, and post social media content on multiple platforms.

  • Assist in research, compilation, production, and editing of pieces and segments.

  • May be called upon to field produce and/or interview guests for live or packaged segments.

  • This role will at times involve working early mornings, evenings and weekends for breaking news, special events, special programs, and political coverage.

Your Qualifications & Experience…

  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field of study is preferred, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of two years production experience in the news television industry.

  • Must have strong news and video production judgment

  • Must have exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal communication, and research skills.

  • May be called upon to independently write television scripts.

  • You should have excellent knowledge of live and taped show production.

  • Must have a teamwork attitude and demonstrate resiliency in daily work in a fast-paced newsroom and control room.

  • Must be amenable to feedback and mentoring.

  • Must be able to share feedback and mentor others.
