Details & Requirements “Old Man and the Sea” follows Bill, a near retirement professor of environmental studies as he tries to get his job back after the dean has dismissed him as being modern enough for the job. He goes on an adventure to discover what being modern means. Eventually he fails and returns to work in shame, only to discover that his students have been impressed by his attempt it comforts him. He keeps his job and becomes a more self-actualized person.
Auditions Dates: 14th, 15th and 18th
CASTING THE FOLLOWING:
BILL HEM: an elderly professor of climate studies who hasn’t joined the internet epoch. He has fallen into a comfortable routine in his cosey tenure. He wants people to like him, but since much of his job has transitioned online, he feels like no one cares enough to talk to him in real life anymore.
THE DEAN: a savvy fiery business woman, hell bent on efficiency and growth.
TALIA/TALLY: a Graduate student who wants to be heard and make their mark on the planet by solving climate change.
