Join the 9News Parliament House Bureau in Canberra as a Camera Operator/Editor, supporting live and recorded coverage of federal politics across TV and digital.
We’re looking for talented individuals, whether you’re already proficient in camera operation and editing, or an experienced editor keen to develop your on-location shooting skills.
Work with a dynamic team and the new National Desk to deliver impactful stories on key political events.
Day to day you will:
- Operate ENG cameras to capture high-quality video of news events.
- Set up and manage lighting, audio, and framing in various locations.
- Edit video on-location for quick turnaround of news stories.
- Collaborate with news teams to produce engaging content.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with broadcast equipment.
- Ensure all content adheres to journalistic and ethical standards.
- Maintain equipment and follow safety protocols.
- Travel for news coverage as needed (passport required).
Qualifications
What you’ll bring:
- Solid ENG-style camera skills, including practical knowledge of sound and lighting or a strong aptitude and eagerness to learn these skills.
- Familiarity with AVID and editing workflows would be advantageous
- Comfortable working with both PC and Mac systems
- Experience setting up live crosses in the field
- Familiarity with news exchange environments and feed management
- A keen interest in federal politics and current affairs
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced broadcast environments
