STORYLINE:
Spencer toils away in Alberta’s oil fields. It’s a hard world and he lives a hard life as a result. He ignores his sister’s calls and text messages and allows his life to spiral into a cycle of drugs, alcohol and violence. He has visions of a giant Crow, who seems intent on prodding him until he loses his mind. Finally, when he’s sure that he’s hit rock bottom, he admits to himself that he can’t run away anymore. He needs to face what’s been waiting for him at home. Spencer makes the return trip to Ontario and finds his sister and her boyfriend caring for Spencer’s dying mother in his childhood home. With the omnipresent Crow continuing to appear to him at inopportune times, Spencer is forced to face everything that he has spent his adulthood running away from.

PRODUCTION/CASTING COMMENTS:
• There will be 4 short films (approx. 3 minutes each) in the “In Development” Series.
• They are written by a member of a professional screenwriting programme and directed by an industry recognized Director.
• When completed, they will be packaged together and screened as a unit for key industry people, highlighting not only the writers, but actors as well.
• 1 day shoots only.
• Meals and a copy of the final product will be provided.

MOTHER – NON-SPEAKING ROLE – FEMALE – 45-60 YRS OLD – CAUCASIAN
The mother of Spencer and Annalise. Ideally she is exceptionally thin but open to all submissions. Ideally bald or with thinning hair.
