Are you a dynamic and expressive individual with a background in acting or performance? Are you looking for meaningful work where your creativity and energy can truly make a difference?
We’re currently seeking enthusiastic, flexible, and compassionate individuals to work with children in Special Educational Needs (SEN) settings. Whether you’re looking for full-time or part-time opportunities, and whether or not you’ve worked in education before — we want to hear from you!
Why Actors and Actresses?
Your training in role-play, improvisation, non-verbal communication, and emotional awareness makes you an ideal fit for working with students with additional needs such as:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
- And other complex learning needs
Your ability to adapt, engage, and build rapport helps children connect, communicate, and feel safe — essential ingredients for their learning and development.
About the Role
In this role, you’ll be part of a dedicated school community, supporting students in both their academic and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children in achieving their learning and behaviour targets
- Assist with daily classroom routines and activities
- Supervise and provide emotional support when needed
- Help maintain structure and consistency in the school day
- Use your creativity to engage students through expressive, fun, and interactive approaches
No prior school experience is required — just a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and the right personality to connect with children.
What We’re Looking For
- A background in acting, drama, theatre, or performing arts
- A calm, patient, and proactive approach
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A genuine passion for helping children thrive
- Previous experience working with children is helpful but not essential
Why Work with Engage Education?
- AWR-compliant pay – You’re paid the same as permanent staff.
- Free CPD training – Delivered by experienced school leaders.
- Dedicated consultant – Personalised support throughout your placement.
- £50 Amazon Voucher refer-a-friend bonus – Earn when you refer fellow graduates.
- Career progression – Many of our graduates go on to become HLTA, cover supervisors, or even qualified teachers via our partner training routes.
