Seeking Full Time Editor – Video Agency & Production Company

We are a full service video agency and production crew with a versatile studio space located in Long Island City, NY. In addition to collaborating on and creating video content within the city’s luxury real estate space since 2008, we also produce high profile interviews and custom content for clients such as Universal Studios, NBC, Amazon Studios, HBO, Warner Media and more.

Our team is looking to add a full-time video editor to our team whose primary focus would be editing custom advertising, interview-style and branded content.

The position also involves assisting our core post-production team with their weekly video workload (i.e. choosing selects, organizing footage, comprehensive editing, basic color correction/grading, audio mixing), helping with in-house gear management, as well as contributing to day-to-day operations and ongoing creative efforts. Additional opportunity to learn and grow as a production set tech/DIT exists within this role as well.

This is a salaried, 40 hr/week position operating out of our LIC studio office (near G/E/M/7 trains). Starting salary range is $45,000 – $47,000 annually with opportunities for overtime with larger projects.

Strong candidates should be well-versed in Adobe Premiere (2-3 years minimum experience required) and Media Encoder — Photoshop, After Effects, Audition and Resolve familiarity a plus. Ideally, our new editor would have a comprehensive knowledge of all technical aspects of video editing (such as video codecs, mixed frame rates, bitrates/compression…etc).

Crucial skills include time management, organization, adaptability, resourcefulness, ability to efficiently handle multiple projects and tasks at once, ability to self-start, take initiative, work well in a small team setting and maintain professional written communications.

Must be able to meet quick-turn around deadlines; prior experience with architectural digital content and knowledge of the real estate industry is preferred but not required.

Looking to hire a qualified candidate ASAP (by or before mid June 2022). See below for more detailed requirements:

Requirements:

– 2-3 years minimum experience using Adobe Premiere Pro

– Understanding of different frame rates, codecs, etc. We primarily capture 60p footage and edit on a 30p timeline, so understanding mixed frame rate media is a must

– Able to trim down footage into a ‘selects’ sequence keeping only the best shots in a timely manner

– Ability to organize files (both in premiere and on our storage systems) and maintain clean, organized project bins and timelines using our templates files, and the ability to color coordinate with premiere’s ‘labels’

– Ability to easily recognize mixed resolution footage and scale accordingly. Most projects are delivered in HD but we do occasionally capture shots in 4k to be able to punch in, so being able to recognize this and correctly scale this is key

– Ability to problem solve technical issues that may arise on their own, or by communicating them effectively so we are able to help you

– An understanding of sequence nesting and using warp stabilizer on clips that are slowed down but need some additional smoothing

– An understanding of LOG footage, primarily Sony S-log 3, Fujifilm F-log, Canon C-log 2/3, occasionally, with the ability to utilize our presets to bring this back to REC.709 and adjust from there to ensure a proper exposure and white balance

– Preferably at least some proficiency in Adobe After Effects, as some of our graphics templates use this and you will need to swap out images/text in a template

– At least a basic understanding of Multicam sequences in Premiere Pro, as we occasionally use 2 cameras on shoots and need to be able to cut between these efficiently

– Communication skills to be able to work well with another editor if projects need to swap hands

Bonuses:

– Proficiency in Adobe Audition + Photoshop (not often required but occasionally cleaning up audio or creating thumbnail images needs to be done)

– A familiarity with real estate video/photo to be able to understand what areas of a home are the best selling features and which may not be as necessary to show

– An understanding of Trello for project management and organization
