VICE x Experiential Creative Team

The VMG Experiential Creative team are conceptual, strategic thinkers responsible for elevating and evolving the VICE Media Group’s brand vision to develop co-branded partnership opportunities and proposals with our brand partners as well as concept & build VMG Owned IP Events.

Role x You

As VMG’s Experiential team continues to grow and disrupt, we are looking for driven, creative and collaborative team members to join our expanding team. The Creative Director is a hyper-collaborative team player and leader who has a strong creative voice and vision. You are an agile thinker and adept presenter who will be tasked with ideating and developing strategic, original event ideas and briefs across our main publishers, including Vice, Refinery29, i-D and Virtue. The role requires fluency in contemporary culture, brand strategy, experiential marketing, and live events.

You will be a critical part of the pitch process and support day-to-day relations with clients on sold programs, across co-branded, white-label and other VMG projects. You will be expected to develop ideas that may range from interactive installations to theatrical programming to social media campaigns and to propose talent, artists, tech applications and special partnerships to make those ideas shine.

The Creative Director is a multi-faceted creative with experience in both copywriting and art direction, with an expertise in building meaningful consumer journeys, from URL to IRL. An excellent storyteller and presenter, the Creative Director, is a leader who mentors, inspires, and draws out the best live event ideas.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and develop market-leading experiential solutions and programs for Vice Media Group, Virtue and our clients and partners.

  • Respond to client briefs by developing and pitching custom experiences, creatively integrating brand partners into VICE Media Group’s franchises and editorial initiatives, and innovating on new event formats.

  • Responsible for setting the vision for owned IP events & our brand partner programs and ensuring creative excellence in execution.

  • Independently digest client briefs and translate them into proposal decks, owning the full creative process across experiential strategy, proposal structure, consumer journey and copy

  • Collaborate with other departments in the company, including Video, Editorial, Photo, Talent and PR to develop creative marketing solutions, fusing digital content and physical events.

  • Present and pitch creative strategy work to clients and internal stakeholders, leading deliverables on pre-sale proposals and sold programs

  • Support on the outreach and curation of collaborations, programming and special projects with emerging artists, collectives, performers, technologists and designers

What we are looking for

  • 10+ years of experience spanning agency, digital media, or client experience focused on branded campaigns and knowledge on navigating a media-led organization

  • Experience working at a CD level in a media company

  • A strong portfolio or reel of work

  • Strong presentation and copywriting skills

  • A track record building lasting partnerships and fostering teamwork that lead to wins

  • Overall expertise in experiential marketing  (the trends, issues and current context)

  • Overall expertise in creative strategy, brand positioning, and how to ideate and execute for any partner across multiple verticals and at any budget

  • Exhibits empathy and openness to team members and is a strong team player

  • Dynamic communication and conflict resolution skills

  • Perfected leadership skills, expert project management and team delegation skills

  • Navigates difficult, large scale and complex projects, including working seamlessly with VMG teams beyond creative (editorial, content, experiential, communications, talent, video, and social)

  • Owns the strategy around project brainstorms & development, leading as a true creative partner in terms of both concept, positioning and visual execution

  • Maintains a deep understanding of the VICE Media Group’s audience and contemporary culture

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with Adobe Creative, Keynote, and Google Slides
