What you will be doing
Later is looking for a Video Editor to join our marketing team. If you have a passion for video production and want to hone your brand storytelling skills, this is the job for you!
We are looking for a Video Editor who can develop our in-house video capabilities (including equipment, software, and processes), while also being able to roll up their sleeves to edit and create original video content for YouTube and the full scope of our social media platforms.
The Later marketing team has grown in the last year, and we’re looking for someone to help scale our video marketing and product education through in-house video production for courses, Youtube videos, IG stories, IGTV, product education and brand videos. We’re looking for someone who understands the value of brand aesthetic and brand storytelling, and can execute on-brand videos through basic filming (camera, lighting, audio), editing and motion graphics.
You will be responsible for editing video content, colour-correcting, and optimizing video for social sharing across all platforms (eg cropping video to 9:16 for Instagram Stories, creating short social media videos). You will also be responsible for some basic filming, lighting, and audio for in-house video shoots at our Vancouver HQ.
You own all things video at Later and work with various teams to create video content that represents our brand, educates our audience, and inspires people to grow their business with Later.
This is a cross-functional role, working closely with Marketing and Creative Design teams. This is a great growth opportunity for a fast learner who is looking to own their role and collaborate with a growing team in a fast-moving startup.
Responsibilities
Edit and optimize video content for a variety of social platforms, including formatting vertical video for social, adding captions, etc.
Produce video content from concept to completion using industry best practices in storyboarding, cinematography, audio recording, and lighting.
Develop and execute the Later brand aesthetic across a variety of platforms, using screencasting, typography, animation, and original motion graphics, ensuring branding is on point and consistent
Oversee scripting and storyboarding process, working with other stakeholders and team members to ensure quality and efficiency
Work as a producer/project manager for videos in a fast-paced dynamic environment
Execute creative editing, color correction, sound mixing to ensure the final product is high quality and on brand.
Recruit and manage freelancers as we scale our video production team.
What we are looking for
2+ years experience in editing and creating motion graphics.
You have a strong and strategic understanding of how to produce engaging video content that speaks to a specific audience (bonus if you have a good understanding of current social video trends)
You are a creative thinker who is comfortable working both independently and in a team environment. You embrace feedback, and have a constant desire to learn and improve.
Strong working knowledge in video editing softwares
Solid expertise in Adobe Creative Suite especially Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator
Strong understanding of video editing, colour correction and audio mixing, along with the theory and aesthetics of graphics creation, typography.
Comfortable working with and editing mixed media for a variety of video platforms
Versatility in working on different formats for marketing videos.
Experience working with professional cinema cameras, audio equipment, and grip/lighting gear
Bonus: Experience working with social video or course production
Salary Range
$58,500 – 66,000

Working Locations
Later is proudly founded and based in Vancouver. People & Places (HR), Product, and Development roles are based out of our Vancouver headquarters. If you are not located in Vancouver, but interested in relocating for the role let us know!
Whereas, roles on our Marketing and Customer Experience teams are open to remote candidates based out of Toronto and London, UK, in addition to working out of our Vancouver headquarters.
