General Description and Classification Standards

Provides support in the operation of the day to day activities of City of Atlanta’s Mayor’s Office of Film and Entertainment. This role will report to the Director of Film & Entertainment, who oversees the film permitting process for the City of Atlanta.

Supervision Received

Works under general supervision. May work independently or with other skilled or semi-skilled workers with responsibility for completion of assigned tasks.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned.

  • Works with location managers and production companies on logistics, coordinates city services, and provides suggestions to help with location scouting needs
  • Assists the Production Manager with film permits, supporting the permitting process from beginning to end
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Provides premier customer service and assistance to the community and film productions

Decision Making

Selects from multiple procedures and methods to accomplish tasks

Leadership Provided

Routinely provides work group leadership, guidance, and/or training to less experienced staff

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully. It is not an exhaustive list. Knowledge of cable TV and radio regulations, ordinances and codes.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and able to work well independently
  • Strong interest in film production
  • Ability to multi-task without loss of efficiency or composure
  • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Superior time management and organizational skills
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in communications, film, or related field (Equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis). 1-2 years of related experience.

Preferred Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in communications, film, or related field (Equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis) with 3-5 years of related experience.

Licensures and Certifications

None required.
