What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for someone to join us 3 days per week, ongoing. This role is designed to provide support to the Technical Lead / “A” Camera Operator on shoot days and in the lead up to video production. You will have a general understanding of camera, lighting and sound set-up and execution. A recent graduate of RMIT, VCA, or Swinburne perhaps who has an understanding of the unique style & nuance of filming live action content for a YouTube channel. While cinematic cameras and other technical equipment are used, a YouTube sensibility and style are critical to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Studio Operations/Shoot Days

  • Provide assistance to the Technical Lead / A Camera Operator, where required, to ensure the appropriate technical delivery of a variety of productions with varying complexity.
  • Learn the setup of the studio and prepare to run technical days in the absence of the Technical Lead / A Camera Operator.
  • Operate the 2nd camera on shoot days and assist with the bump-out and wrangle of data.

Testing

  • Test equipment, where required, in consultation with the Technical Lead / A Camera Operator and ensure that it is up-to-standard and will fulfil the requirements of a variety of video productions.

Data Wrangling & CRM Documentation

  • Work with the Technical Lead / A Camera Operator to adequately wrangle data on shoot days, ensuring that it is delivered to the standards and requirements of the post-production team.
  • Ensure that the required operations data is captured on respective CRM boards.

Pre-Production Support

  • Brainstorm camera and technical setups with the Technical Lead / A Camera Operator and ensure equipment is adequately stored and ready-for-use on shoot days.

Requirements:

  • Experience with a variety of cameras, especially Sony FX3 & Sony FX30
  • A basic understanding of camera settings is critical and as the aforementioned cameras are largely handheld, a nimble and capable approach to a standard shoot day is required.
  • Understanding of YouTube sensibilities and demonstrable experience to prove it
  • Strong communication skills – this is a highly collaborative role within a busy studio environment
  • Strong organisation skills – preferably using a CRM
