Non-Union actor for long running touring show (paid!)

Liars and Believers is seeking an actor to play the Red Clown in our long running comedy, Yellow Bird Chase.This is a continual touring show, with new dates added as they are offered. The position requires scheduling flexibility, a valid passport, self sufficiency, a willingness to collaborate, and a sense of humor is essential.

SHOW DESCRIPTION

A bumbling maintenance crew finds a magical yellow bird, and the mad chase begins. Racing over land, across the sea, and through the air, battling pirates and monsters, how far will our heroes go… without ever leaving the storage room?Yellow Bird Chase uses Clown, physical theatre, masks, puppets, gibberish, and an enormous imagination.

Qualifications:

This character is femme presenting and has previously been performed by female-identifying actors, however, that is not a requirement for the role. We welcome performers of all gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations and ethnicities.

Most important is great physicality, taking direction and making it your own, good balance, and the ability to play well with others. Experience in clown, commedia, mask, acrobatics, dance, etc., are a plus. Actors must have excellent improvisation skills and a willingness to leap before looking.

Rehearsal Dates & Location: TBD

Tour Dates:Tour Dates: April 18-May 4th, June 23-25, and October (dates TBD). Auditioners cannot have conflicts during this time.

Tour Locations: North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, California

Salary: We pay $25/hr. Approximately $500/rehearsal week and $1,000/touring week.

Tour transportation, housing, and food will be provided.

About this Organization:

Liars & Believers is an ensemble company that creates original live shows with music, movement, mask, puppet, video, clown, live bands, aerialists … pretty much anything we can get our hands on.

We collaboratively develop our plays over 12-24 months of improvisation, experimentation, and training. We premiere in Greater Boston, then continually tour and revise our shows. LAB is the only Boston theatre company touring original work regionally and internationally. LAB works almost exclusively with local artists, training them and paying a fair living wage.
