California State Senate, Senate Democratic Caucus
The Senate Democratic Caucus, a communications and outreach team for the Democrats in the California State Senate, seeks an experienced Videographer with a strong background in video production to help communicate our messages to diverse audiences.
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
A Videographer is responsible for capturing high-quality video content under tight deadlines in a variety of settings, including press conferences, remote livestreaming, and studio productions. This position requires occasional overnight travel for field projects.
DUTIES:
Work with the media and communications teams to create video content across many digital platforms on behalf of the Senate Democratic Caucus; perform a range of field and studio video production duties including videography, audio recording, lighting, and livestreaming of events; and stay current with industry trends and best practices in videography and editing.
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of Sony full frame video cameras, video switching & LiveU systems is desirable. Audio mixing, video switching and maintenance experience is also desirable. Familiarity with social media platforms and video specifications. Proficiency in video editing software a plus (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve). Excellent storytelling skills and a creative mindset. The ideal candidate should be a team player. Experience working in a professional corporate or government video production environment is highly desirable.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Film, Video Production, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required. Proven experience as a videographer with a strong portfolio show casing work is required. Extensive professional field and studio video production experience is necessary. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines is required. Candidates must be able to work under tight deadlines and juggle competing requirements without compromising quality. Working longer than a normal working day, including occasional weekends, may be required. Must be able to lift to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Valid driver’s license required.

LOCATION, SALARY AND FILING DATE:
This position is located in Sacramento, CA.
Final salary will be commensurate with experience and education. Seniority and significant experience are required to reach the higher end of the salary range.

Salary Range: $5,644 – $8,814
Seniority Steps Salary Range: $9,034 – $10,742
Consultant Salary Range
Salary Range: $7,006 – $10,936
Seniority Steps Salary Range: $11,210 – $13,328
