Full job description

Dose Moving is hiring a full-time videographer to share the redemptive stories of our crew and clients. This position will be responsible for producing and publishing, primarily to YouTube, an ongoing series of videos chronicling the stories we encounter on a daily basis. Our goal is to create an engaged audience on YouTube by finding great stories to tell, building trust with everyone involved, capturing and editing beautiful and engaging videos, publishing videos to YouTube, and engaging with the community on YouTube to ultimately create more opportunities to tell amazing stories.

Dose Moving is a full service moving and storage company focused on providing an excellent moving experience to customers in the greater Phoenix area. Our movers form the backbone of who we are and what we do. In general, our movers come to us at a critical point in their journey as they struggle through life challenges in an effort to find and sustain the transformation they are looking for. These Journeys are often very human, very raw, and very beautiful. Capturing these stories says a lot about who Dose is and the struggles we as people encounter daily.

In addition, our movers interact with customers at an unusually personal level as they help pack, move, and store their cherished belongings during transformative points in their own lives as they move from one place to another. Transformative points that capture interesting inflection points in their own life story.

Dose interacts with the community at its core, touching real, compelling, and interesting stories of everyday people living, working, and struggling in this great city. We want to tell their stories in a compassionate, hopeful, and beautiful way.

This position will be responsible for planning, coordinating, filming, editing, and publishing videos to YouTube. This position will work closely with our Project Manager, Marketing Director, and Movers. This position will also work closely with an external video production company to build workflows and SOPs, systematize our storytelling, and adapt our strategies for YouTube.

This is a full-time in-person position based out of our Phoenix, Arizona office. Schedules may shift from day to day based on the needs of particular moves, including early mornings and late nights. Hybrid work for allowing remote video editing will be considered after a 120-day probationary period.

Responsibilities

Pre-Production

  • Identify stories to tell in line with our mission.
  • Work with the Marketing Director and external production company to prioritize and decide what stories to tell.
  • Coordinate shoots across schedules with multiple parties.
  • Plan and prepare for shoots ahead of time utilizing Asana to organize all information.
  • Ensure all details for shoots are thought about and executed (people, locations, equipment, any additional necessary crew, etc.).

Production

  • Travel with crew to film.
  • Practice excellence in cinematography, lighting, and sound recording.
  • Keep equipment in good working order.
  • Run interviews with a wide range of people to tell the desired stories.
  • Lead and direct on set to ensure the goal and vision is captured while allowing the movers to accomplish their goals.

Post-Production

  • Practice clean file management to make long-term editing projects simple.
  • Edit great long-form YouTube videos following both planned stories and real-world twists.
  • Revise videos with your team.
  • Create thumbnails for YouTube.
  • Create and optimize YouTube shorts.

Publishing

  • Post videos to YouTube following best practices (title, description, scheduling, etc.).
  • Monitor performance to make informed decisions about what videos to create.

Our Ideal Candidate

Consider this job similar to that of a documentary journalist embedding with a team. Here’s what makes the perfect candidate for us:

  • You are hard-working and willing to get down to earth with the crew. We are a moving company — our work is hard, our team is tight, and we don’t rest until the job is done. There will be easy days in the office, and there will be long days capturing difficult moves.
  • You are empathetic to struggles, and able to quickly establish trust. You will be responsible for running interviews covering honest, raw, vulnerable topics, and being respectful to the struggles of individuals while sharing meaningful stories.
  • You are self-motivated and organized. Although you will work closely with your team members, you will be largely responsible for your work from the planning through the execution.
  • You enjoy moving fast and pivoting quickly. The YouTube landscape is constantly shifting, moves are full of unexpected challenges, and stories in the real world often have wild twists and turns. It is your job to stay on top of all of these changes and tell beautiful and captivating stories.
  • You are a team player. Regardless of what else happens, at Dose Moving we’re all here to help our customers and support our team.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from our Phoenix office.
  • Ability to legally work in the United States.
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Strong physical stamina with the ability to work on your feet for extended periods and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Familiarity with basic workplace safety practices, including proper lifting techniques.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to accommodate early mornings, late evenings, and occasional weekends based on project needs.
  • Commitment to adhering to Dose Moving’s policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality when capturing sensitive customer and crew stories.
