The Client Commercial Video Editor is responsible for editing high-quality video content that aligns with client specifications and brand goals. This role requires creativity, technical proficiency, and a deep understanding of storytelling, pacing, and commercial content standards. The ideal candidate will collaborate with producers, clients, and the creative team to create engaging and visually compelling commercial videos that resonate with target audiences.
This position can be based at any TEGNA station location.
Responsibilities:
- Video Editing:

- Edit raw footage into polished, engaging commercial videos, ensuring seamless transitions, proper pacing, and adherence to the creative vision.
- Assemble and fine-tune video projects that include graphics, sound effects, voice-overs, and music as required.
- Color correct and perform basic audio editing/mixing to achieve high production values.
- Client Collaboration:

- Work closely with clients to understand their needs, feedback, and expectations for commercial projects.
- Incorporate client feedback and revisions promptly, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Communicate regularly with clients and account managers on project status and milestones.
- Creative Input:

- Offer creative solutions and editing techniques to elevate the overall impact of commercial videos.
- Provide input on storytelling, visual flow, and other elements that enhance video effectiveness.
- Collaborate with producers, writers, and creative directors to ensure consistent messaging.
- Post-Production Workflow:

- Manage and organize project assets, media files, and backups in line with established protocols.
- Ensure all deliverables meet technical standards for different platforms (e.g., television, social media, digital advertising).
- Maintain familiarity with emerging trends and editing techniques to continually improve the production process.
- Graphics and Effects:

- Integrate motion graphics, titles, and special effects as needed to enhance the visual appeal of videos.
- Use relevant software to create or modify animations and transitions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Film/Video Production, Digital Media, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of professional video editing experience, preferably in commercial production.
- Proficiency in editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent.
- Experience with motion graphics software like Adobe After Effects is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of editing principles, pacing, color grading, and audio mixing.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks.
- Experience working directly with clients in a collaborative creative environment preferred.
- Knowledge of industry trends and familiarity with various video formats and platforms is preferred.
- Strong portfolio showcasing commercial editing work for diverse clients preferred.
- Background in digital marketing or experience editing content optimized for social media platforms is preferred.
