Description

We are looking for people to join our fantastic team at Somerset House Trust. As the home of cultural innovators, the Trust connects creativity and the arts with the broader society.

We now have the opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly skilled videographer to come and join our talented creative team. You’ll be working alongside our design, marketing and social teams to create and action engaging, dynamic and shareable content for our web and social platforms. You’ll be a talented shooter, editor and creative storyteller who can contribute creative ideas whilst taking responsibility for the entire process from conception to the shoot itself and finally post-production.


Key responsibilities

  • Filming a variety of events, performances, exhibitions, artist interviews, and behind-the-scenes moments at Somerset House.
  • Produce a mix of hi-fi & lo-fi content for both long-form storytelling (Youtube) and short-form content optimized for social media (Instagram & TikTok).
  • React quickly to capture real-time, spontaneous content during live events and installations.
  • Edit and deliver high-quality video content, ensuring it is optimized for various social media platforms.
  • Produce quick-turnaround edits for rapid social media distribution, as well as more refined, longer-term projects like show trailers.
  • Incorporate motion graphics, typography, and music to enhance video storytelling.
  • Collaborate with the design, social media and marketing team to brainstorm and pitch creative ideas that resonate with Somerset House’s audience.
  • Leading creative thinking on concepts for video-based social media content, maintaining a steady flow of content.
  • Stay on top of trends in video production, social media, and content consumption to ensure innovative, fresh, and engaging content.
  • Working onsite at events alongside external producers (when required) to ensure they are capturing content as per the brief and staying on task.
  • Maintain an archive of footage and projects for future use.
  • Look through historic long form evergreen content, identifying ways to repurpose it for social channels.
  • Ensure all video content aligns with the brand’s visual identity and tone.

Skills, knowledge & expertise required for the role:

Experience:
  • Expertise in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, or similar tools.
  • Experience with social media platforms and understanding of their content requirements (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.).
  • A deep understanding of platform creative best practice & how to action learnings from creative tests and analysis
  • Proven experience as a videographer, ideally in a social first creative, arts, or cultural environment.
Skills:
  • Strong grading skills.
  • An understanding of sound design.
  • Experience with lighting and shooting on DSLRs and other HD cameras as well as shooting on iPhone.
  • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Creative, independent, detail-minded.
  • A team-player, equally able to work independently.
  • A keen interest in arts and culture is essential.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong awareness of current youth culture, and emerging social media platforms.
