Position Overview

The VFX Artist will be responsible for creating high-quality visual effects that enhance the overall gameplay experience. This role requires an artist with a deep understanding of both technical and artistic aspects of VFX creation, including particle systems, dynamic simulations, and post-processing effects. The ideal candidate will have experience in creating visually impactful effects that are both aesthetically pleasing and optimized for real-time performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • VFX Creation: Design and implement high-quality visual effects for various in-game elements, including environmental effects, character abilities, explosions, and other dynamic visuals.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the art director, game designers, and engineers to ensure that visual effects integrate seamlessly with other game elements and enhance the player experience.

  • Optimization: Optimize effects for performance on a variety of platforms, ensuring that they run smoothly without compromising visual quality.

  • Technical Implementation: Utilize industry-standard tools and techniques to implement visual effects, including particle systems, shaders, and dynamic simulations.

  • Innovation: Explore new techniques and technologies to create cutting-edge visual effects that push the boundaries of what’s possible in real-time rendering.

  • Iteration: Refine and iterate on effects based on feedback from the art director and other team members, ensuring that all VFX meet the project’s high standards for quality.

Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a VFX artist in the game development industry, with a strong portfolio showcasing real-time visual effects.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in tools and pipeline of Unreal Engine 4. Strong understanding of particle systems, shaders, and real-time rendering.

  • Artistic Skills: Strong sense of timing, color, and motion to create visually compelling effects. Ability to create effects that are both technically efficient and artistically impressive.

  • Optimization Skills: Experience optimizing visual effects for performance across different platforms, including consoles and PCs.

  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other artists, designers, and engineers.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in the context of technical limitations and performance constraints.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hundreds of hours played in the ARK or ATLAS IP

  • Experience with the ARK or ATLAS DevKit

Salary Range

$70,000 – $100,000 per year Compensation is based on experience
