Job description

Short Version: (hint… you really should read the long version too if you’re applying)We are a small real estate company of (mostly) very fun people operating in Maryland, DC, Northern Virginia, and Southern Pennsylvania and we are actively looking for someone to help us create videos of the properties we sell as well as videos promoting our company and agents.

Our primary focus is on finding someone to be behind the camera, but if they’re able to do the majority of the editing as well that would be a huge bonus. Part 107 license is also a big plus, but not a requirement, as long as you’re willing to get one (on our dime).

The job will be a mix of on site at our office (studio) in Germantown, MD and on location at the properties we are selling. Some work from home will be ok, but the majority will be on site.

We provide all of the equipment and software (we have some fun toys) and training. You bring the right attitude, work ethic, and creative skillset.

HARDWARE and SOFTWARE:The following is a list of the equipment we currently use, some familiarity with it is a bonus but not a requirement. We are looking for creative skills and work ethic, technical skills can be taught.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:You will be working directly with our agents helping them with the vision for property and promotional videos and often in front of our clients; we need someone personable to set the agents at ease when they’re in front of the camera and professional to represent the company when in a client’s home.

Some of our agents are the suit and tie professional types but most of our team are playful and joke with and tease each other constantly. Many have become good friends outside of the office. We’d love to find someone who fits well into our crazy.

The work will be split between onsite at properties we are selling and in the studio at the Germantown, MD office with the opportunity to do editing work from home.

COMPENSATION and ADVANCEMENT: We are looking for a full time team member and offering a salary with that in mind. We are a growing team and expect this role to grow as we do.

This is not an hourly position like just about every other photo/video job out there. If we don’t have work for you that’s our fault not yours; you’re still getting paid. You’ll also be paid for your time driving to and from any onsite shoots and reimbursed for extra mileage. We offer 11 paid holidays, 15 days of leave (that can be 22.5 if used off peak season) and we pay for your choice of health care plan. As our team continues to grow, we do anticipate needing multiple people to help with video production. When that happens, there will be the opportunity to run this group within the company.

HIRING PROCESS:

  • Application Review – we will look at your application questions, your resume, and any work samples you submit. If you’ve read this far, add “Bonus Points for Reading Directions” to any of your application questions to get immediately bumped up in our review process.
  • Portfolio Review – We will request samples of your work along with details of what role you played in each piece’s creation. Send as many examples as you want, we will review every single one.
  • Initial Interview – An initial Zoom interview with the owner of the company. Topics to include: work and creative history, technical skills, desired career path, answering any questions you have about the job, and asking you to critique one or more videos we have created to say what you would have done differently.
  • Secondary Interview – An in-person interview at the office with the owner of the company and 1-2 members of the team. Topics to include: creative vision (ours and yours) and general interpersonal skills.
  • Test Shoot – PAID – we will pay you to do a test video shoot of a property and/or of an agent promo video to see how we work together. Please note, we fully expect this to be awkward with learning not equipment and people… so no need to be nervous.
  • You’re Hired! – Yay! You start working with a great group of people in what I’m sure will become your favorite job so far.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
