The Role

Actor Facilitator Intern

Fixed term of up to 16 weeks until end of December 2024

Purpose of the Role

The successful candidate will work as part of the Gazebo creative

team. The role will include performing in our Autumn Theatre in

Education show ‘A Sense of Belonging’ touring schools and the

community, and our Christmas community show which takes place

in the new Gazebo studio theatre in Bilston in December. The role

will also include supporting delivery of workshops with children and

young people out of school hours, our creative training

programmes for young adults and undertaking creative

consultation and engagement. This internship will provide valuable

insight, knowledge and work experience in the field of Applied

Theatre practice and Community Arts.

Acting within Theatre in Education and Community Theatre productions,

including participating in rehearsals and performances for audiences, both

on tour and at Gazebo Theatre.

Undertaking the Get In and Get Out of set and props into and out of

venues, as part of a touring team.

Undertaking facilitation with children and young people as part of Theatre

in Education programme(s), as part of a team.

Supporting the delivery of workshops with children and young people,

including after school drama club and half term holiday activities.

Supporting the delivery of our creative training programme for young

adults.

Working as part of our creative consultation team, undertaking

engagement with the public around what they would like to see taking

place in the local area, including the build environment.

Recording voice overs for film projects and promotional materials.

Presenting to camera for film projects and promotional social media

adverts for Gazebo programmes.

Undertaking evaluation and feedback activities with participants.

Attending events, meetings, training and other activities, as appropriate,

representing Gazebo.

Undertake general administrative duties, as appropriate and relevant.

To be jointly responsible for the premises, equipment, and other resources

of the company, ensuring appropriate maintenance and use.

To comply with all Company Policies.

Develop an understanding of Gazebo’s vision, values and brand.

To act at all times in the best interests of the Company, acting as an

ambassador for Gazebo.

To undertake and assist in other areas of the organisation’s work that may

lie outside these principal functions.

Role Description

Person Specification

To be eligible to apply for our internship you need to be a West Midlands

resident, aged 16-24.

Strong acting skills, ideally with experience of performing for an audience

or on film.

Some experience of facilitation, interactive theatre or Theatre In Education

will be beneficial

Basic literacy skills.

Highly motivated.

Creative, confident and flexible with a positive attitude.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team, as well as independently, using

initiative to problem-solve.

A positive commitment to equality, inclusion and diversity.

A professional approach in working with others, both inside and outside of

the organisation, conducting yourself with self-awareness and personal

reflection.

Additional Information

Starting date: Ideally week beginning 9th September 2024

Probationary period: One month during which time the notice period is one week.

After confirmation of appointment notice period increases to two weeks.

Working Hours: Up to 37 hours per week- this will generally be Monday-Friday between

the hours of 9.30am and 5pm, however will include early starts/later

finishes during school tours, out of school activities, and evenings and

weekends for our Christmas production in December (until 13th Dec). This

will be agreed in advance.

We operate a flexible working policy.

Overtime: We operate a TOIL (time off in lieu) policy for any hours worked in excess

of your weekly hours, which must be agreed in advance with your Line

Manager. We do not pay overtime.

Pension: Auto-enrolment with Gazebo currently making 3% employer contributions,

which will rise in line with legal requirements. Gazebo’s appointed

pension provider is People’s Pension. Further details are available, and

employees can choose to opt out.

Holidays: 25 days per year pro rata, plus Bank Holidays

Location: to be eligible for this internship, you must reside within the West Midlands.

Support: Interns will be supported by their Line Manager and staff members from

across the Gazebo team. An induction will take place, including an

opportunity to identify any training and development needs. Interns will

receive training appropriate to their role including safeguarding, health

and safety (including safe practice for delivery of workshops) and will be

supported to move forward in line with their aspirations.
