Description:
The Wyoming Tribune Eagle is looking for a dynamic, career-oriented photojournalist/videographer to join our award-winning news team in mid-July.
Job summary:
Located in the state capital of Cheyenne, the Tribune Eagle and its website, WyomingNews.com, provide daily news coverage of the southeast corner of the state. This position has primary responsibility for providing high-quality images for all areas of the newsroom – news, sports, features – both for print and online. This includes tight turnaround on deadline, as well as longer photo stories for print and galleries online.
We also need a skilled photojournalist who is excited about telling stories through other visual mediums, such as video and social media. The person we hire will be in charge of our Instagram account, as well as work on both short-term and long-term video projects.
Job functions:
The successful candidate must be flexible, a self-starter, attentive to details, diplomatic, able to perform under the pressure of a deadline and able to multitask. This Tuesday-through-Saturday position will often require daily feature photos, as well a strong sports action shots, portraits and other news/features images.
Candidates for this position should have strong eye for good images, good interpersonal and organizational skills, and a high level of curiosity. We love to have our photojournalist asking questions right along with the reporters out on assignment!
Requirements
Essential skills and requirements:
- Perform job duties and conduct self in accordance with company core values.
- Take high-quality images using our professional Canon equipment.
- Initiate and nurture effective, professional relationships with sources in the community.
- Write complete, accurate and engaging photo captions, even on tight deadline.
- Demonstrate creativity that leads to different ideas for photos to go with news/enterprise stories in a government-heavy city.
- Knowledgeable about AP style.
- Strong eye for details.
Desired skills and experience:
- Experience with most, if not all, social media platforms.
- Experience working with different types of editors with varying expectations.
- Interest in and/or experience with graphic design is a plus.
Technology Skills:
Proficiency with professional camera and lighting equipment, Photoshop, Mac video editing software and other software products is a requirement. Willingness to learn others is key, as well.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
