Full job description
SUMMARY
Create and capture high quality video footage for the docu-series Osiyo, Voices of the Cherokee People and other documentary and video content, including interviews, host stand-ups, cinematic re-enactments, b-roll and environmental beauty shots and time lapses. Provide art direction and creativity for shoots with extremely high production values. Assists with equipment purchasing, storage and maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following:
- Operates, maintains, and calibrates cameras and associated equipment for all shoots.
- Loads and unloads production equipment and assists with gear inventory.
- Executes shot lists and provides guidance for camera placement, frame, composition, and lighting from a technical and creative standpoint.
- Operates drone camera.
- Ingests and marks footage at the end of each shoot.
- Assists in planning, location scouting and identifies gear/equipment needs for shoot.
- Provides art direction for shoots, interviews and re-enactments.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY
No supervisory/management authority.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Video Production, Communications, Film or similar field and 4 years of experience in camera operation or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with cinema and documentary-style cameras is preferred. FAA Drone pilot license required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Advanced knowledge of camera operation, care, maintenance, and calibration.
- Advanced knowledge of cinema and documentary style cameras, lenses and equipment.
- Working knowledge of color and lighting in film and video production setting.
- Advanced Knowledge in Mac OS systems and Adobe Premiere editing software, Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, Media Encoder, Photoshop, After Effects).
- Ability to pay close attention to detail, have a reliable work ethic and a professional appearance.
- Excellent communication skills to ensure effective workflow and customer service.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently on multiple projects under pressure, meeting strict deadlines.
- Working knowledge of tribal divisions and programs.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of professionalism while directly dealing with all levels of staff, clients and the general public.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office setting; however, some work may be performed in a variety of settings, including, outdoors in all types of weather and/or climate-controlled studio. Work may require extended periods of sitting, walking or standing. Work requires lifting and carrying objects up to 25 lbs. Work may require travel, including overnight stays.
