The Position

The Videographer/Photographer is responsible for recording, editing and presenting high quality videos and photos for the City of Albany. Other responsibilities include – but are not limited to – press releases, web content, newsletters, ads, and social media. This position also assists with the development and coordination of
events and public relations.

Duties

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Record and edit high quality videos for City of Albany events, promotions, recruitment, etc.; take and edit high quality photos for City staff, events, promotions, the quarterly newsletter, etc.

Develop materials for internal and external publication; work with departments to develop press releases and media coverage; rewrite content for web distribution; recommend and implement social media best practices to assist in the distribution of content and media coverage.

Assist with social media, broadcast, and print marketing, and the distribution of reports and legal ads required by state and federal agencies.

Produce content for the City of Albany and related websites; ensure press releases are distributed to the public and the media through email, social media and the city of Albany website: ensure content throughout the website remains updated and accurate; make recommendations on how departments can improve individual sites. Assist with training City staff on updating their web pages on the City of Albany website.

Assist with the planning and coordination of events; plan and coordinate staffing, equipment, and materials for special events; ensure event and communication are aligned. Identify and recommend new ways to communicate with the public.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or closely related field; or two (2) years previous experience and/or training that includes public relations and marketing; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
