The Legislative Assembly of Ontario seeks an ENG Camera Operator/Editor who, as part of our Broadcast and Recording Service Branch, in Toronto, ON, is an exceptional visual storyteller to shoot and edit compelling and original content to promote and educate the public about the Legislative Assembly of Ontario and the legislative process.

What You’ll Do

You’ll act with integrity to:

  • Utilize ENG and mirrorless camera equipment to shoot, produce and edit news style stories for television, web, and social media platforms.
  • Demonstrate the utmost tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality in a politically sensitive environment.

You’ll support our collaboration as you:

  • Work in a fast-paced, demanding, and team-orientated environment, while developing engaging video content to entertain and inform.
  • Support production staff with pre-production, shooting, editing and/or conducting interviews when the House is in session and complete video production when the House recesses.
  • Work alongside a Bilingual On-Camera Presenter/Writer/Producer to produce non-partisan content that focuses on the Legislative Assembly, what is happening at the Assembly and how the parliamentary process works.

How You Qualify

You demonstrate excellence through your:

  • A minimum of a college diploma in video recording, film, radio/television production, journalism and at least two (2) years’ experience as an END Operator/Editor working on daily news.
  • Ability to edit video/audio using non-linear editing technology, specifically Adobe Premiere.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot ENG camera and associated technology, such as wireless microphones, lighting equipment and communication tools.
  • Aptitude for telling standalone visual stories, which may require an ability to conduct interviews and make editorial decisions of visual treatments.
  • Ability to leverage social media and platforms.
  • Ability to be a team player, flexible and adept at fostering positive working relationships.
  • Ethos of non-partisan public service in support of good governance and healthy democracy
  • Enjoyment of watching political debates and keen interest in, and knowledge of, current affairs.
  • Ability to speak French is considered an asset.
