The School of Film & Media Arts
at Cleveland State University seeks applications for a full-time, permanent Assistant College Lecturer – Cinematography & Film Production
position to begin on August 19, 2024. CSU is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. CSU

The College Lecturer will teach four courses per semester and engage in service duties as
assigned.
The ideal candidate possesses professional experience in cinematography and lighting for film, video, and
media arts. Current and fluent knowledge of advanced processes and techniques in professional high-definition video formats, and significant
experience with camera, lighting, grip and film workflows are essential. Candidates should be able to teach beginning and advanced
cinematography courses, as well as beginning, intermediate, and advanced film production classes.
Located on the top
floor of the historic Idea Center building in downtown Cleveland’s Playhouse Square, the School of Film & Media Arts offers B.A. and B.F.A.
programs focused on the creation of original cinematic works. The state-of-the-art 36,000 square foot facility includes a 67-seat theatre,
two sound stages, a modern and robust equipment cage, and is centered within a thriving filmmaking community. MovieMaker Magazine ranked
Cleveland amongst the “Best Places to Live and Work as a MovieMaker, 2023.”
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Film or related field in the arts;
- 2+ years of professional experience with camera or film lighting
departments; - Experience teaching at the university level;
- Ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the
diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.
Preferred Qualifications
- Terminal degree in Film or relevant field;
- Experience as a Director of Photography in a professional environment;
- 2+
years’ experience teaching at the university level; - Experience in a crew-based, professional production
environment; - National/international narrative film cinematography credits;
- Direct experience with Sony camera systems, when
shooting sLog; - Direct professional experience working with traditional grip and/or electric equipment;
- Cinematic
storytelling experience through picture and sound (non-dialogue); - Demonstrable experience managing a film production from inception
through distribution; - Experience teaching diverse and/or underserved student populations, or diversity in the
classroom; - Evidence of success with creating a safe and inclusive environment for learning.
