Gig: Dance competition Camera Operator (3 or 4 days)

We are looking for a camera operator for a dance competition at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre John Bassett Theater. Cameras and gears are not required as all the gears are provided. Ideally, we are looking for a camera operator/videographer who appreciates the art of dance, especially ballet or contemporary dance.

The filming is inside a theater from a stationary position. Some performances will be live-streamed, but streaming experience is not required.

Important: Dance competitions are long full-day events. The hours are not finalized as of the time of this posting. Stamina and ability to work the production schedule is a must for this gig.

Hours*:

Friday, March 8th: 11am – 8:45pm

Saturday, March 9th (Morning* or Evening – 8 hours)

Sunday, March 10th (Morning* or evening – 8 hours)

Monday, March 11th (Morning* or evening – 8 hours)

*Lunch is provided and there will be breaks and intermissions.

Compensation

$1400 CAD Canadian dollars for 4 days (Fri-Mon)

OR

$1050 CAD for 3 Days: Sat-Mon

Qualifications

· Experience operating a video camera

· Knowledgeable in Canon line cameras preferred

· Experience shooting live performances; experience or interest in dance is a plus

· Degree in film production, videography, video production, or similar preferred

Responsibilities

• Capturing dance performances at ballet competition
• Professional demeanor in front of clients and audience while on the shoot

Other requirements:

• Communications: Candidates must have WhatsApp installed during the event
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs if needed
• Ability to stay focus on the camera for the duration of the event

Pay: $300.00-$350.00 per day
