This job is part time, at least 2 days a week, with flexible hours. As a grip/stage hand, you will be responsible for managing the grip and electric inventory. You will need to familiarize yourself with our available gear. You will need to be up to date with current industry norms involving lighting and grip equipment and practices. You will advise on equipment needs and the future growth of our XR stage and virtual production department. Responsible for assisting with the assembling, disassembling, and maintenance of the stage and surrounding gear rooms. You will manage and triage ever-changing and often conflicting requests in a fast paced production environment where tracking and organizing gear is critical.
Primary Responsibilities
- Load and unload props and materials from trucks.
- Assemble and disassemble parts.
- Set up lighting, props, and microphones.
- Construct and paint stages/sets.
- Assist with video, sound, and light production.
- Expert knowledge in cable management and technical equipment
- Knowledge in electric, lighting, carpentry Work with electricians and lighting assistants.
- Clean up stage and backstage areas.
- Operate scissor lifts and other heavy machinery
- Moving, setting up, and testing lighting, sound, props, and other equipment according to set requirements.
- Building sets and performing a variety of backstage and maintenance tasks.
- Assembling equipment and support structures and breaking them down when the show is over.
- Making set adjustments when necessary.
- Inspecting lighting, sound, and other equipment, and ensuring that everything is plugged into the correct power source
- Sweeping the stage between shows and removing any backstage waste products.
- Running errands when required and constantly expanding your skillset.
Requirements:
- A 2 or 4-year degree in a relevant discipline.
- Evidence of on-the-job training.
- Experience in carpentry, electronics, or construction would be a plus.
- Excellent stamina and strength.
- Ability to collaborate with others.
- Willingness to work after hours and meet deadlines.
- Ability to focus under pressure and follow instructions.
- Able to lift at least 50 lbs
- SPRINTER VAN A BIG PLUS – and confidence/knowledge in operating 5 ton trucks.
- Must be able to operate scissor lift
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $1,000.00 – $2,500.00 per month
Expected hours: 16 – 32 per week
